Fountain Valley Police Department Targets Impaired Drivers with Checkpoint

Fountain Valley, CA - The Fountain Valley Police Department Traffic Unit will be conducting a DUI/Driver's License checkpoint on Friday, April 20, 2012, between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 a.m. The location of the checkpoint will be made available the day of the checkpoint by contacting the Police Department. On Thursday, April 5, 2012, the Claim Jumper Restaurant (18050 Brookhurst St.) will host 'Tip-A-Cop' to benefit the Orange County Special Olympics. This event involves members from the Fountain Valley Police Department who work to raise money to benefit the athletes of the Orange County Special Olympics. As part of this month's Distracted Driving Awareness Month campaign, the Fountain Valley Police Department will be enforcing 'zero tolerance' to those texting or operating hand-held cell phones on April 3, 2012, and April 18, 2012. On 3-8-12, Fountain Valley Police Department received information about a subject, who was possibly responsible for several bank robberies in Garden Grove, Tustin, Costa Mesa and Fountain Valley. Over the past few months, the City of Fountain Valley has experienced a rise in daytime residential burglaries.
