RESIDENTIAL BURGLARIES

On February 23, 2013, the Fountain Valley Police Department responded to five attempted residential burglaries in the 10700 block of El Picador and El Gorra. The time frame of the incidents was narrowed down between 3:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. In the majority of the incidents, the suspect(s) entered the rear yard area and attempted to enter the residence from a screened window/patio door. The suspect(s) did not make entry at these locations.

On February 24, 2013, Fountain Valley Police Department responded to another residential burglary in the 17800 block of Ash Street. The time frame of this incident was from February 23 at 11:00 p.m. to February 24 at 4:30 a.m. The suspect(s) gained entry into the residence via a rear screened patio door. They successfully gained entry into the residence from an unlocked side garage door. The suspect(s) stole a wallet, cellular phone and the victim’s vehicle, which had been parked in the driveway. This vehicle has since been recovered. In each of these incidents, the residents were at home sleeping when the crimes occurred.

Another attempted residential burglary was located on the same residential block on Ash. The crime was similar to the incidents on El Picador and El Gorra.

During one of the crimes, a witness observed a 20-25-year-old male subject climb out of their backyard and over a block wall. The suspect entered a grey colored two-door, early 1990s passenger vehicle. The vehicle was also occupied by two other subjects.

Due to the similarities, it is possible all of these incidents are connected. Anyone with information related to the incidents is asked to contact the Fountain Valley Police Department at (714)593-4485.

We are urging residents to please contact the Police Department immediately when they see suspicious activity. Please make sure windows and doors are securely locked during the evening hours and when away from the residence. For more information on security tips, please visit our website at www.fvpd.org.
