City of Fountain Valley - Police Department

On Tuesday, June 11, at 3:00 p.m., the Fountain Valley Police Department will be conducting a badge ceremony to recognize two promotions and the hiring of a new Police Officer. The ceremony will be conducted in the Fountain Valley Council Chambers located at 10200 Slater Avenue, Fountain Valley, California.
Adam Hertenstein was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on May 25, 2013. Adam began his career with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in February 2000. After serving the citizens of L.A. for two years, he joined the Fountain Valley Police Department in 2002. Adam has worked as a Patrol Officer, Detective, and was promoted to Senior Police Officer in June 2006. As a Field Training Officer, Adam has trained over 15 police officers. Adam earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology from California State University Fullerton. Adam is married and has an 8-year-old daughter. Adam’s hobbies include playing and coaching soccer.
Marco Avila was promoted to the rank of Senior Officer on June 8, 2013. Marco grew up in the city of Tustin and graduated from Foothill High School. Marco was hired as a Police Officer with the Fountain Valley Police Department in 2006 and has worked Patrol, School Resource Officer, Crisis Negotiator, and is currently assigned to Investigations as a Burglary/Auto Theft Detective. Marco is in the process of earning an associate’s degree from Golden West College. Marco’s hobbies include spending time with his family and visiting vineyards.
Bryan Nguyen grew up in Fountain Valley and attended Fountain Valley High School. Bryan began his law enforcement career right here at Fountain Valley PD where he worked as a Police Cadet from 2008 to 2011. During the same period, Bryan was a full-time student and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University California Irvine. In 2011 Bryan was hired by the Los Angeles Police Department as a Police Officer. While at LAPD, Bryan worked the Hollywood Division. Bryan is excited to return to Fountain Valley as a Police Officer, and he looks forward to serving our community. Bryan’s hobbies include volunteering for the Red Cross and Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
