Traffic Bureau
Our Traffic Bureau is committed to promoting the safest and most efficient traffic flow throughout our City. Every day, over 100,000 vehicles travel the 145 miles of streets in our City, which requires a carefully designed traffic plan and selective enforcement efforts to guarantee maximum public safety.
-
Each of our schools have been monitored and suggestions have been made for expediting safe student pick-ups zones and traffic- flow patterns.
-
Our Traffic Bureau offers a bicycle safety class for youthful offenders and their parents.
-
Our Police Officers' Association has donated 60 bicycle helmets to our schools to be given free to children who cannot afford them.
-
Several sobriety checkpoints have been conducted throughout the year to emphasize our community-wide intolerance of intoxicated drivers.
-
When necessary, we have targeted particularly dangerous areas for "zero tolerance" and have issued hundreds of citations to correct dangerous driving behavior.
-
When accidents do occur, accident reconstruction experts within our Bureau analyze causes and present powerful evidence in court to establish responsibility.
The Traffic Bureau consists of one sergeant, four motor officers, and a traffic collision investigator. The Bureau has utilized BMW motorcycles but will be transitioning to Honda police motorcycle in the near future.
