On Friday December 15, 2005, the Fountain Valley Police Department welcomed three new  police officers. All three are graduates of the Palomar (San Diego) Basic Extended Academy. These officers completed their academy training on December 14th, having received hundreds of hours of training as mandated by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.  Sworn in were Officer Rick Nilos, Officer Jim Cataline, and Officer Jarrod Frahm.  Officer Nilos  is a Marine veteran, having served in both Afghanistan and Iraq.  Officer Cataline was formally a Community Service Officer at Palomar College, and Officer Frahm was most recently a driver for Federal Express.

Chief Paul A. Sorrell administered the oath to all three officers, saying, “Each of them survived our extremely rigorous testing process and now stand ready to begin their careers in law enforcement.“
