Suspects Arrested Following Catalytic Converter Thefts
 
On July 5, 2008 at 2:23 p.m. Fountain Valley Officer Joshua McMahan saw suspicious activity on Zaragosa Ave. and believed a theft from a vehicle had just occurred. Officer McMahan stopped a suspect vehicle for vehicle code violations as it drove onto Ward St. from Zaragosa Ave. Upon contact with the driver and passenger, Officer McMahan saw a catalytic converter in the back seat. Further investigation revealed suspects Juan Villeraldonino (male 23 years old) and Jorge Gaona (male 23 years old) both from Santa Ana had just committed a catalytic converter theft. Both suspects were arrested and booked at Orange County Jail.

On July 6, 2008 at 4:13 a.m. Fountain Valley Police officers responded to the 16000 Block of Mt. Nimbus regarding suspicious circumstances and mechanical type noises. The witness stated he heard someone using a saw to cut metal and saw a suspect crawl from beneath his neighbor’s vehicle. The witness was able to provide a vehicle description. Responding officers located and stopped the vehicle a short distance away. The officers saw a catalytic converter lying in the backseat of the vehicle. Further investigation revealed suspects Fernando Jiminez (male 28 years old), Alfredo Gutierrez (male 31 years old) and Raymundo Lopez (male 43 years old) from Santa Ana had just committed a catalytic converter theft. All three suspects were arrested and booked at Orange County Jail.
