Parole Searches / Arrests of FV Gang Members | |
| At approximately 6 AM on Tuesday, April 8th, 2008, Fountain Valley Police Department Investigators, assisted by State Parole Agents, conducted searches at nine residences in Fountain Valley. The searches and subsequent arrests were the result of an ongoing investigation of the ‘Colonia Juarez’or ‘CJ’street gang. Investigators recovered a sawed off shotgun, two incendiary devices, marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia. ‘Colonia Juarez’members and associates have been involved in an ongoing dispute with a rival local gang. In recent weeks incidents of tagging and simple assaults have escalated to stabbings and shots fired. Injuries to date have been minor and all parties involved have been uncooperative with investigators. Arrested were Daniel Garcia, 24, Fountain Valley, possession of a sawed-off shotgun; Joseph Vasquez, 21, Fountain Valley, and Arnold Rubio, 24, Compton, parole violations and possession of an incendiary device and Joseph Renteria, 19, possession of a methamphetamine pipe, Laith Oweini, parole violations, and Jason Talamantes, 23, Fountain Valley, possession of marijuana. Some of the suspects will be looking at additional charges of being active members in a criminal street gang. Further arrests are pending and the investigation is continuing.
