FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION INVESTIGATION | |
| On July 11th, 2009, a 14 year old boy pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Euclid Street north of the 405 Freeway as he crossed Euclid Street. The victim later succumbed to injuries he sustained in the collision. The driver of the vehicle was found to be not at fault. The Fountain Valley Police Department's Traffic Bureau conducted the investigation which revealed the victim had consumed alcoholic beverages which were supplied by Cody Day, 20 years old, from Huntington Beach, CA. Traffic Bureau officers submitted the case to the District Attorney's Office requesting Mr. Day be charged. On October 7th, Mr. Day pled no contest to Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, Furnishing alcohol to a Minor and Purchasing/Consuming alcohol my a Minor. Mr. Day was sentenced to 90 days in jail, 3 years probation, must attend a drug and alcohol program, and had his driver's license suspended for a period of one year. | |
